At 37, my health almost collapsed. I had been in the music business, travelling the world playing gigs for over two decades, and my DJ lifestyle had taken a serious toll on my body – physically and emotionally.

I wasn’t only putting on extra weight, which I loathed; I was also dealing with horrifying diseases, such as peripheral neuropathy and arteriosclerosis, both of which were debilitating to the point that even standing up became difficult.

I was also a smoker, going through a packet of cigarettes a day, which didn’t help; I drank alcohol too and (often) did other drugs.

I remember thinking: Well Ariel, that’s it! Life is going to be rather miserable from now on, and I am going to have to deal with pain, doctors, and health troubles forever. My future looked bleak, to say the least.

The great news is that, within weeks of implementing a simple “raw food approach” as I call it; I lost 20 kilos (3.14 Stones). My weight reverted back to my high school level of 67 kilos and has stayed there ever since.

“I Always Thought That Eating a Vegan Diet Was the Optimum in Nutrition but This Is Taking My Well-Being to another Level”

I have started following your recommendations by having local fresh organic fruit for breakfast (I get a fruit and veg box delivered). Then during the morning I make a huge smoothie with loads of greens and fruit sometimes with some oats in it. I’m then trying to eat fresh fruit for the rest of the day until dinner time but I usually supplement with some seeds and dried fruit as well.

I haven’t started experimenting with raw evening meals yet as our house is in a state of flux – we don’t have a kitchen at the moment due to an extension being built. I’m going to start when I get my new kitchen in place and treat myself to a Vitamix to help!

I have to say I’m absolutely amazed at how different I feel after just a few weeks. I feel so full of energy I’ve entered a half marathon and have started the training plan (this was something I always wanted to do but never thought I’d be able to) now I feel that it’s achievable! I’ve upped the yoga and have been going out doing different things – Ariel yoga for one LOL!
